Hello there! I am Francesco and I am an AWS Machine Learning Hero and Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Bolt in Brussels, working mainly on Computer Vision tasks.
In my previous gigs, I have trained Deep Learning model for Faktion in Antwerp, built default scoring models at Mash in Luxembourg, and used to optimize taxi rides for Bolt (yes, I joined back!), in Estonia.
I previously crunched Kindle eBooks data for Amazon, which I joined in late 2014 growing, across four years, from Business Analyst into a full Data Science position.
Originally, I graduated in Chemistry and spent almost two years playing around with rockets’ propellants, near Rome. The jump to Data Science was not quite immediate. Ironically, the fact that my field of studies had been completely unrelated to ML helped me a lot in this process. It obliged me to give nothing for granted, roll up my sleeves and start a brand new learning journey. Good thing is, so far, it has been a real blast!
As a result, I now love coding and Kaggling, having fun with predictive analytics, and testing new deep learning frameworks.
When I am not contemplating a Jupyter Notebook you might find me jogging, cooking, or rather eating some good Belgian chocolate and finding inspiration in a strong Belgian beer (Orval and Kwak among my favorites).
